Walk # 240 September 28th 2016 Gordon Head to Arbutus Cove with Wenche
Wenche figured out some new and interesting routes to get to and from Arbutus Cove park. Take a good look at the photos to see if you can remember the route that she lead the walk on this day. Maybe someone will send Terry a map showing the route someday soon. It looks like it was a great walk though, and the weather was wonderful.

Walk # 241 October 5th 2016 Logan Park & Trevlac Pond revisited
From Wenche: Today, nine of us walked on beautiful forest paths through two small parks: Logan park and Calvert park. Sun was shining on the tree branches and the air was so fresh and clean. Logan park paths were mainly flat and easy. Calvert park had a narrower path and was a fairly steep climb uphill. When we reached a steep area with wet stones looking very slippery, we turned around and went back to the road, and back to the cars up by Logan park. Lunch was at 4 mile pub. Roger and Teri joined us there.

Walk # 242 October 12th 2016 Dallas Road & Ogden Point Breakwater
The group enjoyed soaking up the beautiful scenery along with the sunshine and fresh sea air on this popular waterfront walk along Dallas Road and the breakwater. Here's Marion's report:
The sun was shining, the oystercatchers peeping, and little kids were lining up for minders at the Ogden Point Café.
We had a lovely, leisurely walk, promenading along Dallas Road, enjoying the lovely weather, the good company, and the stunning beauty of our coastal waters. Some of us ventured out onto the breakwater for a longer stroll, and others sat on a bench and watched the scenery and the visitors to Victoria walk by. Some even had hot chocolate while they waited (Dave) and didn’t share any!
John A. created a funny and highly creative card for Terry B. and all who signed it, and those who sent email wishes were included. Thanks, John-for your usual whimsical and off-the -wall great humor.
Before the breakwater sojorn, we serenaded (that’s a generous interpretation) Kathy on her 64th birthday with a rendition of the Beatles “When I’m 64”. Sounded like a raft of sea lions going by, but she seemed to like it.
We had a good workout, and then spent all the energy credits at The Beagle Pub. Teri and Roger just back from the U.K., news caught up, etc. We missed the sick, lame and dottering who are out for illness, and hope that you are back soonest. Lara, understand that you are about to embark on your U.K. treck – good walking and stay safe ‘til we see you again.

Walk # 243 October 19th 2016 Chip Trail behind the Juan De Fuca Rec
This walk was arranged by Phil and others. It started at the Juan De Fuca rec centre and walked the chip trail that starts near the library and goes around the golf course and old velodrome site. The group went to the Axe & Barrel Pub for lunch.

Walk # 244 October 26th 2016 Lochside Trail revisited from near the Monkey Tree Pub
Today we went to an old friend, the Lochside Trail portion that starts near the Monkey Tree. With no apologies to Gene, it was a ‘Ramblin’ in the Rain’ kind of day. We turned around before getting to Royal Oak this time. The skies came down to meet us shortly after that. Looks like the camera lens could use wipers in a couple of pictures. Good spirits and friends, which got better at the Monkey Tree for lunch; yes, that’s Larry. We all hope for Terry’s return and his magic touch with the weather.

Walk # 245 November 2nd 2016 MaCaulay point Trails on a very wet day
The walking group did brave the elements for a 30 minute walk. However nobody took out their camera in such stormy wet weather. John has created some images to represent what they experienced. Thanks

Walk # 246 November 9th 2016 Cedar Hill Golf Course chip trail revisited
A very pleasant day to walk the upper part of the Cedar Hill Golf Course trail. Diane handed out bags of barley seeds, you’ll see why. We met walkers, runners and pets. Some of the wildlife, tamelife?, wanted to follow Wenche and Diane home. Marion and Martin joined us for lunch at the 5th St Bar and Grill, fish tacos were very popular today.

Walk # 247 November 16th 2016 Mt. Tolmie to UVic's Finerty gardens & back
Good walk today, Larry does down to the reservoir and does a 2 loops daily, good for him. Most of us hadn’t seen portions of this walk before, always good. And it warmed up, slightly. Linda lead this walk that went over to Henderson Rd. and then through some of the Uvic chip trails before turning back to Mt. Tolmie and the starting point.

Walk # 248 November 23rd 2016 Bowker Creek Trail to Oak Bay Avenue loop walk
After finding the parking lots at the Oak Bay Rec Centre completely full, we managed to park somewhere and started our walk from the upper parking lot as planned. The path took us past the fields at the High School and to Bowker Creek. The Creek was full of charming ducks and the water level was low. The path continued over Hampshire Road to Monterey Avenue by the Oak Bay Police Department and Fire Station. At Oak Bay Avenue we walked to the left instead of to the right, hit Beach Drive and turned left up a side street to find the path that would take us back to the Fire Station and back to the Oak Bay Rec Centre. The weather was fine, mostly cloudy but mild temperature. We all enjoyed lunch at Cristie’s pub on Fort St. Here are Phil's photos
Walk # 249 November 30 2016 To MacLaughlin point and back
This walk set out from the Archie Browning parking lot which, a few hours earlier, was filled with trailers and other vehicles supporting a movie being filmed at the English Inn. The route led down Lampson, past the Inn, to the ocean and then through military residences to Patricia Way and to the Point. The view of the Inner Harbour from the Point is rare, always a surprise to see how close it is. The sky presented black and white, blue and yellow - powerfully beautiful, as can be seen in the photos. The weather was fresh and windy and the sea quite choppy. But the sun persisted.
Claudia, Terry and Marion joined the walkers for lunch and conversation at the Gorge Point Pub.

Walk # 250 December 7th 2016 A Winter walk on the Lochside Trail
A winter walk on the Lochside trail in freezing weather was what some of the CAMRAmblers did this day. They started near the Mann Construction yard and walked towards town. The temperature never got above 1C so they must have had a chilly walk. You can see that the bridges were frosty and slippery. They went back to the Monkey Tree Pub for a nice hot lunch and some antifreeze for their blood.

The CAMRAmblers Christmas Party 2016 December 18th at the home of John & Wenche
The CAMRAmblers were at the beautiful home of John & Wenche for another memorable Christmas party on December 18th. As usual it was a pot-luck dinner as well. Their home was lavishly decorated with lots of Nordic themed items and of course a beautiful Christmas tree that had so many lights that it was impossible to count them all. There were lots of appies and treats to enjoy before the food was brought out. Of course we all brought some interesting craft beers to share too. The variety of hot dishes was wonderful. Nobody went hungry with all the splended choices. Most people tried everything that there was. Wenche made a delicious trifle for dessert. Soon most of us gathered in the living room for the singing of old favorite Seasonal songs. After which we were treated to a mini concert by a family member and his friend who played and sang for us.
