Walk # 184 August 19 2015 A Fernwood Extended walk
I couldn't go on the walk on this day; but Phil was good enough to take his camera and get a good photographic record of the things and houses that they saw on this extended walk through the neighborhoods of the Fernwood and Oaklands/Jubilee area.

Walk # 185 August 26th 2015 Cuthbert Holmes park revisited
The group met at the back edge of the Tillicum Mall parking lot and entered the trail around this piece of natural parkland at the edge of Victoria. The Colquitz River flows through this area, but for five months or more we have had very little or no rain and the water looks very low today. Terry had to turn back at the bridge, and return the same way back to the mall, but the group managed to walk several loops through the park. We went to the Gorge point Pub for lunch.

The Summer party August 29th 2015 A fun time at Judy's home
Always good company, great food, music and song! This was another fun CAMRAmblers party; thanks again Judy, and everyone who attended. And to Marion and Martin for the music and song. The weather forced us all inside, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the Canada Weather Office predictions were saying.

Walk # 186 September 2nd 2015 The Lochside Trail to Blenkinsop Lake
Illness forced me to miss this walk, however if any CAMRAmblers members want to contribute a short report about this walk I will put it here. This was an out and back walk.

Walk # 187 September 9th 2015 The Galloping Goose from Uptown going south
The weather was wonderful for a leisurely stroll from Uptown to nearly at the Selkirk Bridge area. We stopped after a thirty minute walk and turned around and walked back to Uptown to get our cars. We drove over to the Boleskine Bistro and had a nice lunch as usual. Distance walked 2.0 kilometers

Walk # 188 September 16th 2015 The Galloping Goose Trail from Atkins Road
Despite warnings of showers, the day turned out to be sunny and warm.
I was hoping for more fall colours, but they are not here yet. The group walked for about 30 minutes toward Goldstream Ave.,and they stopped at the Millstream river before turning around and heading back to the starting point. The place for lunch was the 6 Mile House. Lots of gluten free and vegetarian dishes.

Walk # 189 September 23rd 2015 The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup
In early August I registered our walking group as participants in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, a program that involves thousands of individuals across Canada. Our group was registered to clean up the Gonzales Bay beach near the border of Victoria and Oak Bay. After checking the web site for the cleanup site I found that another group was also registered to do a cleanup in the same area ten days before our selected date. Oh well..we went ahead and kept our designated date and 12 of us turned out to pick litter, cigarette filters, bottle caps etc, from the beach area from one end of the beach to the other end. We found lots of pieces of broken glass, cigarette filters, bottle caps and pieces of plastic wrap and one condom. The total weight of the material we removed would probably amount to several kilos. One large plastic bag held all the smaller bags that we carried and filled. A few returnable plastic and glass beverage bottles were also collected and were returned for the deposit. We also walked to Harling Point the site of the historic Chinese Cemetery. We looked at the incinerator that is used to burn symbolic offerings to the spirits of the ancestors and some coins that were also left there. Thanks to everyone who came out on this walk.

Walk # 190 September 30th 2015 From Spinnakers to Barnard park walk
The weather was sunny and warm; a perfect day for a walk through one of the oldest parts of Victoria. We started by going onto the Westsong walkway beside Spinnakers Brewpub. At the first street we passed,Mary Street we left the walkway and walked to Esquimalt road passing a couple of historic homes and learning about the history of this part of Esquimalt. Turning left we followed the E&N tracks to Russell and turned left again, heading toward the water again. Soon we passed the historic Ormand Biscuit factory, a once busy bread and biscuits bakery that is no longer in business. Heading down to the walkway again we learned about the Rainbow park and the naval ship that it is named after. We followed Milne street to Seaforth stopping to look at a few really old but restored homes. Then we descended the stairs at Maitland St. to the walkway again and walked all the way to Barnard Park where we came up to Esquimalt road again. We followed Esquimalt road back to Spinnakers where we had lunch.

Walk # 191 October 7th 2015 Around Rithet's Bog in the rain
The weather was rainy; not the usual sunny weather for the CAMRAmblers. Nevertheless, there were ten people who showed up to walk around Rithet's Bog this day. The path had some puddles in places, but there were no muddy sections and the rain didn't bother us that much. The walk took about 55 minutes at a comfortable pace. After the walk we went to the nearby Fireside Grill for a nice lunch.
