Walk # 80 May 15th 2013 Ten Mile Point Walk
We met at 10:50am in the Gyro park in Cadboro Bay. At 11:00am we walked down to the beach and turned left and walked to the end of the beach and up a short access road to Cadboro Bay Road. Turning right on Cadboro Bay Road we came to a short road that became a steep path up to Seaview Road. We walked along Seaview Road to the east and visited a hidden beach access trail that Martin knew about that took us out to where we could see a small island just off shore. No Cadborosaurus sighting though. Staying on Seaview road we continued walking east until it became Tudor Road and then McAnally Road. Our expert guide was Martin who lives out this way. He showed us the way through a path that lead back through some park land to Tudor Road and eventually back to Seaview Road in a big circle. We walked along Telegraph Bay Road and Cadboro Bay Road to the Smuggler's Cove Pub where we had a nice lunch. After lunch we walked back to Gyro Park where we left our cars. This was a two hour and 7.12 kilometer* walk. *(4 mile) walk)

Walk # 81 May 22nd 2013 Galloping Goose Trail part 3
We met at the corner of the Westshore Village Mall parking lot near the corner of Kelly Road and the Veterans memorial parkway and at 11:am we crossed the road and headed along the trail. The weather threatened rain showers and dark clouds hung overhead, but we were lucky again. This section of the trail is almost completely straight, all the way to where Sooke Road crosses the trail. We crossed at the light and followed the trail into the Luxton Farigrounds where we stopped. After a brief rest we turned around and walked back the way we had come and soon arrived back at the mall where we parked. I had arranged for a reservation at the Original Joe's Bar and Grill where we had a nice lunch.

Walk #82 May 29th 2013 Hands of Time walking tour
We spent a lot of time trying to fine #1 with no success. We walked across the bridge to Johnson St. were Laura spotted #2. Following the map through town and were now on a roll, with Laura being the first to find most of the other 'hands'. Because we were running out of time we ended at # 8. We hope to do another walk starting at Mile 0 to work back from #12-#9. "The Hands of Time" is really a great addition to the city. We had a nice lunch at Swan's and then walked back across the bridge to the cars. After lunch Roger,Teri, Merv and I went back to see if we could find #1. After much searching I spotted it on the back side of a large rock, near the path. It is on the water side of the rock so can't really be seen from the path. Thanks to Lois for this report

Walk # 83 June 5th 2013 Galloping Goose Trail part 4
We met at the Luxton Fairgrounds parking lot and started from there heading toward Sooke. This days' walk was six kilometers in length. That is the distance out and back to the starting point. After the walk (which we did in only 65 minutes) we went to the Glen lake Inn but were disappointed to find that the service was too slow, and there was only one server on staff. We also found out that the pub was closing for renovations after today. We decided to go to the Country Rose Pub instead.

Walk #84 June 12th 2013 The hands of Time walking tour part 2
We parked down at the Mile Zero area near Dallas Road and started our walk to the last numbered Hands of Time sculpture #12 that is located near the top of Beacon Hill. From there we did a short tour through the park stopping to learn about a few things and their history. Proceeding through to the inner harbour we found the numbered sculptures from 11- 9 and that's where the group finished off on the part one of the Hands of Time walk. We took a vote and decided to go to the Garrick's Head Pub for lunch. None of us had been there since it has re-opened with the big expansion. We had a nice lunch and were pleasantly surprised by their huge list of craft beers on tap. Roger and Marion and Martin and I walked back along Wharf street and I photographed some of the Hands of Time sculptures that I missed on the part one of the walk that I missed.

Walk #85 June 19th 2013 Francis King Park, the Centennial+High Ridge Trail
On June 19th we met at the Francis King Park parking area and walked the Centennial Trail and the High Ridge Trail out towards Thetis Lake Regional park and back to Francis King Park. There are some really big trees is this park. The trails are well signed and in good condition. The CAMRAmblers had a good time. Some of the trails are long steep grades, up and down, and there are lots of roots to watch out for as tripping hazards. Walking poles are very useful. Walk # 86 June 26th 2013 A walk With Emily Carr - Heritage Homes walk
Parking and walking from Mile Zero seemed like the best idea for this walk again. We walked a few blocks to the start of this walk at the Carr House; the family home of Richard Carr, Emily's father and mother. From there we toured up and down a route that took us to 14 homes and sites that were connected to the life of Emily Carr in some way. Our walk brought us back to the James Bay Inn for lunch. At the time of Emily's death the James Bay Inn was the Saint Mary's Priory, and Emily spent her last days in a small room that is now where the men's washroom is now located in the pub.

Walk # 87 July 3rd 2013 Galloping Goose Trail part 5
This time we parked at the Wild Ridge Way ball field parking area and walked out towards Metchosin on the Galloping Goose Trail heading towards Sooke. We covered the distance to where the trail re-crosses happy Valley Road in about 35 minutes, so we decided to keep walking for another 15 or so minutes until we came to Lindholm Road. This makes the next part of the trail that much closer to our goal of all the way to Sooke. The sun was shining, and it wasn't too hot. It was a perfect day for walking. We stopped at the historic plaque marking a family that came all the way from Kansas to this spot to homestead. After a brief rest and some water to refresh ourselves we turned back the way we had come and headed back to the vehicles. The group held a vote on where to go for lunch, and chose the 4 Mile Pub for lunch. Since the pub was pretty busy, we headed to the outside patio of the downstairs restaurant. It's a really nice setting, and the food was as good as ever.
