Walk # 150 November 19th 2014 A walk in the Mt. Douglas Park woods
On November 19th 2014 a small group of CAMRAmblers met at the end of Harvest lane, just off of Cedar Hill road near the boundary of Mt. Douglas Park. Leaving our cars at the end of the cul-de-sac we walked up the few stairs and into the trails of the park. Taking the left hand trail we walked down to where it meets the main trail and turned right following the wide trail up to where most of the trails meet. We elected to follow the trail further on straight ahead and then take the first left turn onto the trail that follows the back border of the park and takes us back to the south end of the park. We decided to follow a footpath that leads into the residential subdivision and walk back to the cars that way. The total walk was about one hour. We went to Maude Hunter's Pub and Larry joined us there for a nice lunch.

Walk # 151 November 26th 2014 Government House Gardens and area
On a grey November 26th the CAMRAmblers met at the lower parking area at Government House, (also known as Cary Castle) and explored the gardens both behind and in front of the castle. There has been a lot of rain the past few days, but as usual the CAMRAmblers didn't get a drop of rain on this walk. Then we walked out of the grounds to stroll down Lobiniere Ave. and around the block to the right and back to Rockland and Govt House where we left our cars. We went to Christies Carriage House for a nice lunch. Larry and Cathy joined us for the lunch part.

Walk # 152 December 3rd Walking part of the Colquitz River - again
The CAMRAmblelrs met at the Tillicum Mall and walked towards Interurban Road and along the Colquitz River trail as far as Hyacinth Road. Then we looked for the Swan Creek Trail and found it a few yards away. We decided to walk along the Swan Creek Trail a short ways and then turned back and walked back the way we had come. It was interesting to see how high the water is at this time of the year. There has been some new signage added to the railings along the trail; probably by students from the nearby school. It was a brisk day. But mostly sunny. We went to the Gorge Point Pub for lunch afterwards.

Christmas party December 15th CAMRAmblers Christmas Party
With much thanks to Dave and Marion Freeman for organizing this years party, and to Martin Redwood for his guitar skills along with Marion playing as well, for the carol singing. It was a smaller group that met at the Venture Wardroom in Esquimalt this year, but what a beautiful place to have a party! We had the room from two pm to seven pm and that was plenty of time to have a nice party. The large room overlooks the Victoria harbour and was complete with all the decorations and even a fireplace and a no host bar with bartender. There were lots of chips and nibbles and dips to start with and then some group singing before the pizza was delivered. There were many deserts and even a birthday cake for Merv, whose birthday was the next day. A great time was had by all.
